Process of Emotional Self-Exploration

Process of Emotional Self-Exploration

Recently developed, and informed by the neuroscience of emotion transformation and memory re-consolidation, the Process of Emotional Self-Exploration (PESE) is a brief yet powerful intervention that can be used when supporting individuals, couples and parents/caregivers. When used regularly, whether the client or dyad is in distress or interested in prevention, the PESE can significantly decrease reactivity to specific and general stressors, increase one’s capacity for self-soothing, and support the evolution of one’s inner architecture. The PESE can be used as a primer, primary or booster intervention. This intervention can also be used to support clinicians with processes of self-inquiry related to activations in response to those they serve. Theory and specific techniques will be reviewed according to its use in clinical settings, including a demonstration to support experiential learning. Script and handout are also provided to support your practice.
